I made $200 this weekend! =D I helped campaign for some Republican guy running for state senator (not an issue for me, considering he was campaigning for the Primary, which only helps determine which candidate gets the Republican nomination, not who actually gets the seat). This was mostly in the Franklin Lakes and Oakland area... which was TERRIFYING. Those houses were the size of castles, their lawns bigger than the park behind my house, and their driveways so long that I couldn't see the house or STREET when standing in the middle! We had to DRIVE to get the house next door! And this wasn't in the country side, because as soon as you left the neighborhood you were back in suburbia. It was bizarre. I just couldn't help wondering: what are these people trying to make up for by having such big houses and big pieces of property?
Also, what are these people afraid of? They live in one of the safest towns in the country, but they have crazy security doors, cameras, and call boxes. Most didn't have a normal doorbell, assuming they had one at all! And ALL of them had dogs. BIG dogs.
I've decided I will never live in a big mansion in a town like that. I'd rather live in a regular suburban area, or even an urban city type area, than in a faux rural dystopia.
