Again, today's been blah. I've done absolutely nothing.
Last night though! =D I hung out with Matt (and some guy named Pablo... O.o) We got some food, then we saw that fantasy movie Stardust. Now, because Aaron got my hopes up, I went in expecting something pretty good. What I got was... okay. I don't think it's worth shelling out the $8. Hell, I wouldn't even rent it. Maybe if somebody else had it and said they wanted to watch, I might try it again. Even better, if it was on TV. Yep, just wait until it comes out on TV.
It wasn't a bad movie, not at all. It was a charming little movie, actually. But, it's not one I'd watch more than once and, if you can avoid spending money to see it, do so. It felt like... it was a fantasy adventure, but not an epic fantasy adventure like Lord of the Rings or Narnia... I'd say it was a big kid's fantasy adventure. Not mature enough for adults (or teenagers either), but definitely too mature for little kids. Think preteens here.
If you really like Fantasy, give it a shot I guess. I'm more of a sci-fi fan, so it didn't quite work for me, but if you're more of a fantasy fan you'll probably enjoy it a lot. It has witches, and magic, and back-stabbing princes, and airship pirates (yes, you read that right). About the only thing that really threw the movie off IMO was De Niro, who felt horribly miscast. Seriously. The movie takes place in a mystical kingdom that links to Victorian England. EVERYBODY talks in an English accent... except De Niro! His character talks in a Bronx New York accent, with no explanation at all! No imagine him trying to talk like one of the pirates from Pirates of the Caribbean.
Are you cringing yet? Oh, it gets worse. But, I won't spoil that one for you... I was legitimately surprised (and at the same time totally HORRIFIED) by his character's big twist. Want to find out? Either Google it or watch it yourself. =P
Anyways, that's that. Until next time!
